Choosing Sides at Harding Park

Woods & DalyThe American Express World Golf Championship comes to our backyard at Harding Park and we couldn’t have asked for better weather, nicer course conditions, or more drama. The hardest part for us, come Day 4, was choosing who to root for down the stretch: Tiger Woods or John Daly.

There are plenty of reasons for us to cheer for Tiger. He is the Best of the Best. Professional, focused, sharp, and it’s easy to get on the bandwagon of a consistent winner. Plus, we sell a golf watch that he designed.

But John Daly is a natural fit for us as well. He smokes, drinks, gambles, and golfs — all of our favorite activities! The problem, of course, is that he’s been in and out of rehab, smokes cigarettes (we’ve got Rare Cigars here for you, JD!), he’s been divorced four times, and he lost over $10,000,000 (that’s $10 million) gambling.

In the end, we’ll say we were really behind Tiger all along so we can associate with winners. It was definitely a sad way for anyone to win a tournament (Daly missing a 3 foot tap-in on the 2nd playoff hole), but who amongst us hasn’t asked for the 3 foot Gimme only to have your buddies make you putt it, and then you lip it out. Here’s to you JD – you put on a heckuva show for San Francisco!
