The biggest show in menswear — MAGIC Marketplace — starts on Tuesday in Las Vegas. The business trip made for a good excuse to head out early for a weekend of golf with friends.
With a weekend’s worth of activities already planned (gambling, dinner, gambling, golf, gambling, repeat),and an early morning arrival, today was the only day for exploration. First stop: the Truefitt & Hill Barbershop in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s.
A quick trip through our T&H assortment makes it clear we are already fans, but shaving at home can never match the barbershop shave experience. The hot towels. Pre-shave oil. Hot lather. A trained barber performing his art with the grain. More hot towels. More lather. Against the grain. The cold towel finale. It is truly one of the last vestiges of male pampering.
A quick ride up some escalators and you find one of the newest additions to the Forum Shops at Caesars: Casa Fuente, the first store from Arturo Fuente, the cigar manufacturer.
Aside from being a stunning homage to their cigars & accessories, the walk-in humidor is stocked with Fuente cigars that are, at best, impossible to find, and in one case, sold exclusively at Casa Fuente. "Virtually impossible" to find goodies include Opus X A’s (in the wooden coffin), Anejo’s in every size, and the Forbidden X BBMF. BBMF stands for "Big Bad Mother Fucker" — we are not making that up — and sells for $125 a stick. You have to be a serious smoker to shell out for it, and an even more serious smoker to handle it.
The BBMF is packed safely for travel back to SF (we will likely purchase some for the site too), so in the meantime, we tried the Casa Fuente, a cigar sold only at their Vegas shop. At $21, it wasn’t exactly cheap, but then again, nothing in Vegas is. Overall, an excellent cigar; full-bodied, good flavor, and held it’s ash well. It will make a nice addition to our selection if for no other reason than saving our customers a flight to LV!Our Cigar of the Month subscribers may find one in the mail soon…
