Artisanal Pencil Sharpening. Is there any other kind?

Artisan Pencil SharpeningArtisanal Pencil Sharpening. Coolest name for a business I’ve heard in a while. MSNBC.com writes up David Rees, who started up Artisanal Pencil Sharpening, and charges $15 to “professionally” sharpen your pencil.

Of course, one of the tools he uses to sharpen pencils is the El Casco Pencil Sharpener with Suction Base, which we’ve been selling for over 5 years now. It is one of our favorite “gifts for the guy who has everything.”

David has just written an old school-inspired instruction manual on pencil sharpening, and he’s touring the country. We’ll try to get him into San Francisco if we can!

If you appreciate people who take their craft very seriously, read the article. It’s worth your 3 minutes.
