SF Chronicle: The Fashion of Rick Barry

rick_barryBasketball Hall-of-Famer Rick Barry, who played for the San Francisco Warriors, the Oakland Oaks (ABA), and the Golden State Warriors, among other teams, has been treated to a fashion retrospective by the San Francisco Chronicle. Over the course of the 24-image slideshow you see Berry develop from preppie to Laurel Canyon-type hippie to toupeed funkateer to standard issue talking head to rustic outdoorsman.

The Chron’s Pop Culture Critic Peter Hartlaub notes, “Barry is known for his greatness as a basketball player. But I’ve identified a second area where he is world class: Looking awesome. Barry possesses two important personality traits, that make him perfect for a multi-decade fashion profile: An appreciation for new trends, and a healthy dose of ‘I don’t give a @#$%.’”

Also worth mentioning: Hartlaub writes that if this column proves popular, other SF icons like Willie Brown, Joe Montana, and Journey will get slideshows. So click through and comment often.
