Chalk this up in the “You Know You’ve Made it When…” category. After three years of purchasing Margo Petitti scarves for the store and website, I finally had a scarf named after me! Margo normally chooses romantic sounding Italian names for her scarves, but apparently this scarf must have screamed short, Jewish guy. Soon, the website will be introducing…the Ami.
Back in 2010, on a trip to Market, one of our account representatives took me over to Margo’s booth to check out her scarves. It was love at first sight. That winter, Margo’s scarves were sent to our top web customers as a thank you gift from me. Today, if you look at the Club’s Scarf Library, it’s 75% Margo Petitti scarves; now if the weather would just cool off, members would start to borrow them.
Every year, Margo’s scarves have evolved and improved, and the selection has expanded. She’s so successful now that she’s being ripped off –blatantly, I might add– by high-end department stores. But there can only be one original, and that’s what we are proud to represent. Thanks for the honor; I look forward to customers lining up outside our door asking for the “Amy” scarf.
